Peak Roofs

Peak roofs are what you will find on most houses, and there are several different sub-types.  The most popular type is the gable roof, which has two sloping sides that meet at a peak over the centre of the roof.  When viewed from the side, gabled roofs look like triangles.  A shed roof slopes from one side only and is commonly found on additions or over porches.  Hipped roofs don't have peaks like the gable roofs do, and instead have sloped roof sections all the way around the house.  Other types of roofs include gambrel and mansard.
